Ah, wait! Re-read, please. Perfectly working? Do you really mean PERFECTLY? P - E - R - F - E - C - T - L -Y? That's where you are mistaken. There is nothing perfect in this world generally as well but if you specifically talk about Perfect in the world of WWW, there is absolutely nothing like that!
Some people might think that once they have made their website, their work is done. What they don't realize is that the website is a continuous process and you need to keep working to keep making it better and better. But why? What's in it for you? Let's see that!
No matter how perfectly you write the code, over a period of time, bugs enter your system. Just like bacteria enters the human body, viruses enter computers, bugs enter the websites. We have doctors for bacteria, malware scans for computers but what do we have for bugs? Well, you have website maintenance techniques which ensure that no bug stays in your system for a longer period of time. But in order to remove bugs, you need to know how harmful they are, otherwise, why would you even remove them?! In simple words, bugs divert your users from your website. If there are bugs in a website, it will crash more and wouldn't work efficiently. The pages would open slowly and most of all, a few of your features, which are directly attacked by the bugs, wouldn't even work! When a user faces this more than twice, their user experience is adversely affected, they tend to reduce using that website. Therefore, these bugs adversely affect your users, causing them to stay away from your website and resultantly, there could be a massive decline in your business in terms of your sales.
Furthermore, the web development environment is ever changing. After a while, website designs become obsolete. Imagine opening up this website after a year and still seeing the same design. Wouldn't you get tired and bored of it? Anyone would. Users prefer new interfaces, especially since in recent times, the mammoth concern is laid upon user experience. Even the big multinational companies keep changing their color schemes or branding in order to retain attraction and interest of their customers. Similarly, in a web development environment, you need to keep coming up with new designs to retain the interest of your users.
Moreover, each day, WWW brings out new ways of making your websites interactive. Not only websites but applications too. For example, cameras have been introduced in the phone for a long time. But now we have cameras that detect face and give different filters which are more interactive for the users. Now people enjoy taking pictures with different filters as due to these AI techniques, the camera has become more interactive. So, it's important to maintain your website in order to make it as interactive as possible by utilizing the new techniques.
In addition, web development languages become obsolete as well. Today, a well-renowned language PHP is very common. However, technology is now moving towards MeanStack and AnuglarJS. After a few years, PHP might become absolutely obsolete. In that case, if you want to add a feature after a few years, you will have to convert the website from one language to another completely. These new languages have their own perks. For example, JavaScript allows the content to be loaded without having to refresh the page. Users don't have to wait while data is being fetched from the server. So, it increases their user experience and in turn, they would prefer visiting your website more.

These are the perks you get if you maintain your website. All these factors mention above increase user-experience and allow your users to visit your website frequently. In turn, your business becomes more successful. Without maintenance, your website will soon lose its charm for your audience.
